Verse 1
श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज, निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि।बरनऊँ रघुबर बिमल जसु, जो दायकु फल चारि॥
Shri Guru Charan Saroj Raj, Nija Manu Mukuru Sudhari.Barnau Raghubar Bimal Jasu, Jo Dayaku Phala Chari.
Cleansing the mirror of my mind with the dust of the lotus feet of my Guru, I narrate the pure glory of Shri Ram, the best of Raghus, which bestows the four fruits of life.
Verse 2
बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके, सुमिरौं पवन-कुमार।बल बुद्धि विद्या देहु मोहिं, हरहु कलेस बिकार॥
Buddhihin Tanu Janike, Sumirau Pavan-Kumar.Bal Buddhi Vidya Dehu Mohin, Harahu Kales Bikar.
Knowing my body to be devoid of intelligence, I remember Hanuman, son of the Wind. Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove all afflictions and impurities.
Verse 3
जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुन सागर।जय कपीस तिहुँ लोक उजागर॥
Jai Hanuman Gyan Gun Sagar.Jai Kapis Tihu Lok Ujagar.
Victory to Hanuman, the ocean of wisdom and virtue! Victory to the king of monkeys who illuminates all three worlds!
Verse 4
राम दूत अतुलित बल धामा।अंजनि-पुत्र पवनसुत नामा॥
Ram Doot Atilit Bal Dhama.Anjani-Putra Pavanasut Nama.
Messenger of Ram, repository of incomparable strength, son of Anjani, known by the name Pavanasuta (son of Wind).
Verse 5
महाबीर बिक्रम बजरंगी।कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी॥
Mahabir Bikram Bajrangi.Kumati Nivar Sumati Ke Sangi.
The great hero, mighty as lightning and thunder, destroyer of evil thoughts, companion of good ones.
Verse 6
कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा।कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा॥
Kanchan Baran Biraj Subesa.Kanan Kundal Kunchit Kesa.
With a golden complexion, splendidly adorned, wearing earrings in his ears, with curly hair.
Verse 7
हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै।काँधे मूँज जनेऊ साजै॥
Hath Bajra Au Dhvaja Biraje.Kandhe Munj Janeu Saje.
In his hands are a thunderbolt and a flag. Across his shoulder rests a sacred thread of munja grass.
Verse 8
संकर सुवन केसरीनंदन।तेज प्रताप महा जग बंदन॥
Sankar Suvan Kesarinandan.Tej Pratap Maha Jag Bandan.
Son of Shiva, son of Kesari, your radiance and glory are so great that the whole world bows to you.
Verse 9
विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर।राम काज करिबे को आतुर॥
Vidyavan Guni Ati Chatur.Ram Kaj Karibe Ko Atur.
Supremely learned, virtuous and very clever, always eager to accomplish the tasks of Lord Ram.
Verse 10
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया।राम लखन सीता मन बसिया॥
Prabhu Charitra Sunibe Ko Rasiya.Ram Lakhan Sita Man Basiya.
A great enthusiast in listening to the deeds of the Lord. Ram, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart.
Verse 11
सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा।बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा॥
Sukshm Rup Dhari Siyahi Dikhava.Bikat Rup Dhari Lank Jarava.
Taking a tiny form you appeared before Sita. Taking a terrible form you burnt Lanka.
Verse 12
भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे।रामचंद्र के काज सँवारे॥
Bhim Rup Dhari Asur Sanhare.Ramachandra Ke Kaj Saware.
Taking a mighty form you slew the demons and accomplished the mission of Lord Ramachandra.
Verse 13
लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये।श्री रघुबीर हरषि उर लाये॥
Lay Sajivan Lakhan Jiyaye.Shri Raghubir Harshi Ur Laye.
Bringing the Sanjeevani herb you revived Lakshman. Lord Ram embraced you joyfully upon his chest.
Verse 14
रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई।तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई॥
Raghupati Kinhi Bahut Badai.Tum Mam Priya Bharatahi Sam Bhai.
Raghupati praised you greatly, saying: "You are as dear to me as my own brother Bharat."
Verse 15
सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं।अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं॥
Sahas Badan Tumharo Jas Gawen.As Kahi Shripati Kanth Lagawen.
Thousands of mouths sing your glory, saying this, Vishnu himself embraced you.
Verse 16
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा।नारद सारद सहित अहीसा॥
Sanakadik Brahmadi Munisa.Narad Sarad Sahit Ahisa.
Sanaka and other sages, Brahma and other divine beings, Narad, Sharada and Shesha — all sing your praise.
Verse 17
जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहाँ ते।कबि कोबिद कहि सके कहाँ ते॥
Jam Kuber Digpal Jahan Te.Kabi Kobid Kahi Sake Kahan Te.
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions — none of the poets or learned men can fully describe your greatness.
Verse 18
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा।राम मिलाय राज-पद दीन्हा॥
Tum Upkar Sugriwahi Kinha.Ram Milay Raj-Pad Dinha.
You did great service to Sugriva, making him meet Ram and giving him back his kingdom.
Verse 19
तुम्हरो मंत्र विभीषण माना।लंकेस्वर भए सब जग जाना॥
Tumhro Mantra Vibhishan Mana.Lankeshwar Bhaye Sab Jag Jana.
Vibhishana heeded your counsel and became the lord of Lanka — the whole world knows this.
Verse 20
जुग सहस्त्र जोजन पर भानू।लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू॥
Jug Sahastra Jojan Par Bhanu.Lilyo Tahi Madhur Phal Janu.
The Sun, thousands of yugas and yojanas away, you swallowed thinking it a sweet fruit.
Verse 21
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं।जलधि लाँघि गये अचरज नाहीं॥
Prabhu Mudrika Meli Mukh Mahin.Jaladhi Langhi Gaye Acharaj Nahin.
Keeping the Lord's ring in your mouth, you crossed the ocean — no wonder at all.
Verse 22
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते।सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते॥
Durgam Kaj Jagat Ke Jete.Sugam Anugrh Tumhre Tete.
All the difficult tasks of the world become easy with your grace.
Verse 23
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे।होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे॥
Ram Duare Tum Rakhware.Hot Na Agya Binu Paisare.
You are the guardian at Ram's gate — none can enter without your permission.
Verse 24
सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना।तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना॥
Sab Sukh Lahai Tumhari Sarna.Tum Rakshak Kahu Ko Dar Na.
All happiness is obtained in your shelter. With you as the protector, there is no fear at all.
Verse 25
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै।तीनों लोक हाँक तें काँपै॥
Apan Tej Samharo Apai.Tino Lok Hank Te Kanpai.
Only you can contain your own radiance. The three worlds tremble at your roar.
Verse 26
भूत पिशाच निकट नहिं आवै।महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै॥
Bhut Pishach Nikat Nahin Awe.Mahabir Jab Nam Sunave.
Ghosts and evil spirits do not come near when the name of the great hero Hanuman is chanted.
Verse 27
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा।जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा॥
Nase Rog Herry Sab Pira.Japat Nirantar Hanumat Bira.
All diseases are destroyed and all pain is removed for one who constantly chants the name of the brave Hanuman.
Verse 28
संकट से हनुमान छुड़ावै।मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै॥
Sankat Se Hanuman Chhudave.Man Kram Bachan Dhyan Jo Lave.
Hanuman frees from all dangers the one who meditates upon him in mind, deed, and word.
Verse 29
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा।तिन के काज सकल तुम साजा॥
Sab Par Ram Tapasvi Raja.Tin Ke Kaj Sakal Tum Saja.
Ram is the supreme king, the great ascetic. You accomplish all his tasks.
Verse 30
और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै।सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै॥
Aur Manorath Jo Koi Lave.Soi Amit Jivan Phal Pave.
Whoever comes with any wish obtains unlimited fruits of life.
Verse 31
चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा।है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा॥
Charo Jug Partap Tumhara.Hai Parsiddh Jagat Ujiyara.
Your glory pervades all four ages. Your fame illuminates the entire world.
Verse 32
साधु-संत के तुम रखवारे।असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे॥
Sadhu-Sant Ke Tum Rakhware.Asur Nikkandan Ram Dulare.
You are the protector of saints and sages, the destroyer of demons, the beloved of Lord Ram.
Verse 33
अष्ट सिद्धि नव निधि के दाता।अस बर दीन जानकी माता॥
Asht Siddhi Nav Nidhi Ke Data.As Bar Din Janaki Mata.
You are the giver of eight supernatural powers and nine divine treasures — such a boon was given by Mother Janaki (Sita).
Verse 34
राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा।सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा॥
Ram Rasayan Tumhre Pasa.Sada Raho Raghupati Ke Dasa.
You possess the elixir of Ram's name. Always remain the servant of Raghupati (Ram).
Verse 35
तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै।जनम-जनम के दुख बिसरावै॥
Tumhre Bhajan Ram Ko Pave.Janam-Janam Ke Dukh Bisrave.
Through your devotion one attains Ram and the sorrows of countless lifetimes are forgotten.
Verse 36
अंत काल रघुबर पुर जाई।जहाँ जन्म हरि-भक्त कहाई॥
Ant Kaal Raghubar Pur Jai.Jahan Janm Hari-Bhakt Kahai.
At the time of death one goes to Ram's abode and wherever reborn is called a devotee of Hari.
Verse 37
और देवता चित्त न धरई।हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई॥
Aur Devata Chit Na Dharai.Hanumat Sei Sarb Sukh Karai.
There is no need to fix one's mind on any other deity — by serving Hanuman all happiness is obtained.
Verse 38
संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा।जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा॥
Sankat Kate Mite Sab Pira.Jo Sumire Hanumat Balbira.
All dangers are cut away and all pain vanishes for one who remembers the mighty hero Hanuman.
Verse 39
जय जय जय हनुमान गोसाईं।कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं॥
Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosain.Kripa Karahu Gurudev Ki Nain.
Victory, victory, victory to Hanuman, the master! Shower grace upon me as a Guru does upon a disciple.
Verse 40
जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई।छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई॥
Jo Sat Bar Path Kar Koi.Chhutahi Bandi Maha Sukh Hoi.
Whoever recites this a hundred times is freed from all bondage and obtains great bliss.
Verse 41
जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा।होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा॥
Jo Yah Padhe Hanuman Chalisa.Hoy Siddhi Sakhi Gaurisa.
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa attains accomplishments — Lord Shiva (Gaurishisa) himself is witness to this.
Verse 42
तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा।कीजै नाथ हृदय महँ डेरा॥
Tulsidas Sada Hari Chera.Kijai Nath Hriday Mahan Dera.
Tulsidas is always a servant of Hari. O Lord, make your abode in my heart.
Verse 43
पवन तनय संकट हरन, मंगल मूरति रूप।राम लखन सीता सहित, हृदय बसहु सुर भूप॥
Pavan Tanay Sankat Herry, Mangal Murti Rup.Ram Lakhan Sita Sahit, Hriday Basahu Sur Bhup.
O son of Pavan, remover of dangers, embodiment of auspiciousness — dwell in my heart together with Ram, Lakshman, and Sita, O king of the gods.
