Significance
Vasant Panchami celebrates the arrival of spring (Vasant) and is the birthday of Goddess Saraswati -- the deity of learning, wisdom, music, arts, and eloquence. Students place their books, instruments, and tools of craft at her feet for blessing. The color yellow permeates everything -- clothes, offerings, and sweets -- representing the mustard fields in full bloom and the awakening of knowledge and creativity after winter.
