Chapter 5, Verse 18 · Equal Vision
विद्याविनयसम्पन्ने ब्राह्मणे गवि हस्तिनि ।शुनि चैव श्वपाके च पण्डिताः समदर्शिनः ॥
Vidyā-vinaya-sampanne brāhmaṇe gavi hastiniŚuni caiva śvapāke ca paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ
The humble sages see with equal vision a learned Brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a dog-eater.
Chapter 5, Verse 29 · God as Friend
भोक्तारं यज्ञतपसां सर्वलोकमहेश्वरम् ।सुहृदं सर्वभूतानां ज्ञात्वा मां शान्तिमृच्छति ॥
Bhoktāraṃ yajña-tapasāṃ sarva-loka-maheśvaramSuhṛdaṃ sarva-bhūtānāṃ jñātvā māṃ śāntim ṛcchati
He who knows Me as the enjoyer of all sacrifices and austerities, as the great Lord of all worlds, and as the friend of all beings — attains peace.
Chapter 5, Verse 4 · Knowledge and Action Are One
साङ्ख्ययोगौ पृथग्बालाः प्रवदन्ति न पण्डिताः ।एकमप्यास्थितः सम्यगुभयोर्विन्दते फलम् ॥
Sāṅkhya-yogau pṛthag bālāḥ pravadanti na paṇḍitāḥEkam apy āsthitaḥ samyag ubhayor vindate phalam
Only the ignorant speak of devotional service as different from the analytical study of the material world. Those who are actually learned say that one who applies oneself well to one path achieves the results of both.
Chapter 5, Verse 7 · The Free Soul Acts Without Bondage
योगयुक्तो विशुद्धात्मा विजितात्मा जितेन्द्रियः ।सर्वभूतात्मभूतात्मा कुर्वन्नपि न लिप्यते ॥
Yoga-yukto viśuddhātmā vijitātmā jitendriyaḥSarva-bhūtātma-bhūtātmā kurvann api na lipyate
One who acts in devotion, who is pure, who controls the mind and senses, and who sees the Self in all beings — though acting, he is never bound.
Chapter 5, Verse 10 · Like a Lotus — Untouched
ब्रह्मण्याधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यः ।लिप्यते न स पापेन पद्मपत्रमिवाम्भसा ॥
Brahmaṇy ādhāya karmāṇi saṅgaṃ tyaktvā karoti yaḥLipyate na sa pāpena padma-patram ivāmbhasā
One who surrenders all actions to Brahman, abandoning all attachment, is not touched by sin — just as a lotus leaf is untouched by water.
Chapter 5, Verse 13 · The Nine-Gated City of the Body
सर्वकर्माणि मनसा संन्यस्यास्ते सुखं वशी ।नवद्वारे पुरे देही नैव कुर्वन्न कारयन् ॥
Sarva-karmāṇi manasā sannyasyāste sukhaṃ vaśīNava-dvāre pure dehī naiva kurvan na kārayan
When the embodied being renounces all actions mentally and dwells happily in the city of nine gates (the body), controlling it — he neither acts nor causes action.
Chapter 5, Verse 22 · Pleasures Are Temporary
ये हि संस्पर्शजा भोगा दुःखयोनय एव ते ।आद्यन्तवन्तः कौन्तेय न तेषु रमते बुधः ॥
Ye hi saṃsparśa-jā bhogā duḥkha-yonaya eva teĀdy-antavantaḥ Kaunteya na teṣu ramate budhaḥ
Pleasures that arise from sense contact are sources of suffering — they have a beginning and an end, O Arjuna. The wise person does not rejoice in them.
