Ekadashi Vrat Katha
The Ekadashi Vrat is the most sacred fast in all of Vaishnava dharma. This katha reveals the origin of Ekadashi from the Padma Purana — how the Ekadashi Devi was born from Lord Vishnu to destroy the demon Mura, and how fasting on this day purifies the devotee more powerfully than any other austerity.
Deity: Lord VishnuBest time: The 11th day (Ekadashi) of every lunar fortnight — both Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha.

Benefits
Destroys all sins, purifies the mind, grants prosperity, and liberates the soul. Fasting on Ekadashi is said to equal the merit of all pilgrimages combined.
Vidhi — How to Observe
- On Dashami (the day before), eat a single sattvic meal in the evening — no meat, no grains.
- On Ekadashi morning, wake before sunrise, bathe, and take the vow (sankalpa): "I shall fast today for Lord Vishnu's grace."
- Perform puja of Lord Vishnu with yellow flowers, tulsi leaves, sandalwood paste, and light a ghee lamp.
- Read or listen to the Ekadashi Vrat Katha and chant Vishnu Sahasranama.
- Spend the day in bhajan, scripture reading, and remembrance of Lord Vishnu.
- Strictly avoid rice, wheat, pulses, and all grains. Consume only fruits, milk, and root vegetables.
- Keep a night-long vigil (jaagran) if possible, singing the Lord's glories.
- On Dwadashi (next day), break the fast with sattvic food after morning puja and offer prasad to a Brahmin or the needy.
